Wow, it’s already July. The sun is shining, the temperature rising, and I completed a full month of blogging. We’ve grilled almost every day this week and visited the lake to enjoy this lovely July weather. However, I’m going to share a little secret with you (that’s unrelated to blogging). Okay, here goes… I don’t know how to swim. I live in the Great Lakes state and I can barely doggie paddle, let alone float. I am a Michigan failure. I’ll learn eventually. In the meantime I want to share with you my blog report for the month of June.
Why I’m Posting Reports:
I love to read blog/income reports from fellow bloggers. It motivates me and also helps give me ideas of what is working for them (or what’s not). I hope you find motivation and tips after reading my blog reports as well. I am also publishing blog reports to hold myself accountable and to keep track of the stats. I don’t know how long I’ll publish these, but for now I want to see how they go.
I officially launched the blog in May 2017. However, I had posts published before that even though my blog wasn’t viewable to everyone. I was so nervous to hit the button to make my blog go live. One day I decided enough was enough and just did it! And I haven’t looked back since! I am still learning and growing. There’s a lot to do/know when blogging.
Right now I am still working a regular job and posting on the blog when I have a chance. It’s a side project for me that I hope turns full time in the future.
So let’s get to the good stuff!

So I didn’t have any goals because I am starting off. Anything above zero was successful in my book for the first month. I will include goals for next month to help motivate me.
Posts I published: 8 (From June 1-30th)
Facebook Followers: 36
Instagram Followers: 23
Pinterest Followers: 64
Twitter Followers: 86
Mailing list: 4
Page views: 304 (I am counting from the launch of my blog until the last day in June).
Takeaway: So my page views are extremely low. I need to figure out a way to increase people getting to my blog. I have the most interactions on Facebook (likes on my posts, comments, etc), however the link clicks are low. My followers are engaging but not following through. I need to work on this. I also would like to post more content. I am a new blog and I would like to have more variety.
Goals for next month:
Published Posts: 12
Facebook Followers: 45
Instagram Followers: 30
Pinterest Followers: 75
Twitter Followers: 95
Mailing List: 10
Other Affiliates: (Ebates, Ibotta): $0
Hosting: $0 (prepaid for the year with a bonus I received)
Photoshop: $0 (signed up for their Black Friday special and prepaid)
No income in yet but also no expenses so I am breaking even. However, as time moves on, I will start paying for hosting and Photoshop.
What I’m trying:
- Tailwind. I am currently doing a free trial of Tailwind for Pinterest. A lot of bloggers recommended it. So far I like that it’s so easy to use. I will write a review once I am finished with it. The free trial includes 100 pins and there is no time limit. After that, plans start at $9.99 a month.
- Facebook Groups. I am trying to build my following (and knowledge) so I have joined two Facebook groups. I need to branch out and find a few more. If you have any recommendations, please let me know! I also joined one Pinterest Group Board. I have not seen any success with that one though. I don’t know if it’s my Pins or graphics, but no one is engaging there. I NEED to find more Pinterest Boards.
- Mailing List. I am looking at ways to increase my mailing list subscription (right now at 4). I am thinking of creating a printable or graphic to hopefully increase people wanting to subscribe. Hopefully as the page views increase, my mailing list will as well.
What didn’t work:
So far everything seems to be going okay. While it would be nice to have more readers, I realize this could take time.
So there you have it! I didn’t make one penny this month. However, I have set up some goals and am trying some new ventures to hopefully increase traffic and the rest will fall in place! Check back next month to see what improved!
